Moving Costs and Pricing

The cost of moving can be steep, but if you plan accordingly you can find ways to keep the cost under control and within your budget. Long Distance Moving Quote can help you get prepared for your next big move. The average long distance move will range around $2,000-$8,750. To begin pricing how much a move will cost, you should consider a variety of factors that will determine your final cost.

The Weight or Cubic Footage of Your Household Belongings

In general, the more stuff you move, the more expensive your move will cost. Not only does it take longer to load and unload a larger household, but it also requires a bigger truck, and more fuel.

The Distance Between Your Origin and Destination

The mileage between point A and point B affects the price of a full service move. Not only will you have to pay for gas, but you’ll also have to pay the driver for his time on the road and potentially lodging. In general, the farther the move, the more expensive it will cost.

Labor Costs

Labor costs may vary from state to state and moving company to moving company. Interstate or Long Distance moves usually include the estimated cost of labor in the moving quote.

Packing Costs

If you’re planning on hiring the full-service movers to pack and unpack your belongings, be prepared to pay at least a few hundred dollars extra for the service. Moving companies will also include the added cost of disassembling and reassembling furniture in their moving estimate.

Liability and Valuation Coverage

Movers must provide customers with two valuation coverage options: “Full Value Protection” and “Released Value Protection.” Full value protection is the more comprehensive option. This liability coverage states that if your mover damages or loses an item, they will reimburse you for its current cash value. Released Value Protection is the most basic liability option available. It’s included in your moving quote for free and only covers .60 cents per pound of cargo.

Additional Storage

If you need a moving company to temporarily store your belongings before completing the move, this cost will be added to your moving estimate. Storage rates vary from company to company, so be sure to ask about rates before agreeing to include this service in the estimate. Many moving companies that are in Long Distance Moving Quote’s Network offer 30 days of storage for Free.

Vehicle Shipping or Outsourcing Driving

If you’re moving cross-country you may be considering shipping your car or paying someone else to drive it for you. You can pay your moving company to arrange Auto Transportation for your Vehicles. Occasionally however, using a separate company who specialize in Auto Transport can be less expensive.

Expedited or Quicker Deliver

If you need your items quicker then the standard delivery time, many moving companies will offer to do so at an additional cost. Let your moving company know your needs and they will let you know how much extra the cost will be before getting started.
